The Vestavia Hills Library in the Forest Technology Department

The Vestavia Hills Library is proud to offer 48 public computers for use by our patrons. There are 10 Apple iMacs located in our Children Department, 2 touch screen interactive computers in our Children Department that has hundreds of educational games geared towards toddlers, we have 10 iMacs in the Teens Department, 10 iMacs located in our Electronic Classroom, 16 computers with Windows 7 located in our Adult Department, and 2 iMacs in our Adult Department. The Children’s computers have various educational games. The Teen and Adult computers have Microsoft Office, and all of our computers have access to the Internet.

The Electronic Classroom

The Electronic Classroom has 10 iMac computers used for a wide variety of training, including Basic Mac, Basic Windows 8, and Office 2010 courses. The Electronic Classroom is open from 9:00 AM till 6:00 PM Monday through Friday for general public use except when classes are being taught. To sign up for a class, you can register by calling 205-978-0155 Ext. 7  or register online by selecting the class you want and registering at the bottom of the page. Also, signup sheets and schedules are available in the Classroom. Space is limited, so sign up today!

Patrons may print their work by purchasing a print card from our TracSystems Automated Print System. Black & white prints are 10 cents each and color prints are 50 cents each.

Public Wireless Access

Enjoy free Wi-Fi access from your personal laptop or mobile device throughout the library, including our Rooftop Garden and Outdoor Amphitheatre areas.

Online Tutorials and Quick Guides

Online tutorials and quick start guides are available for a number of topics from Computer Basics to shortcuts in MS Office.
