Summer Watercolor Artist Series In partnership with the Vestavia Hills Arts Council, we are so excited to welcome four phenomenal, nationally recognized “Artists in Residence” this summer! They will be offering watercolor demonstrations in our Makerspace in June and July, and we encourage you to attend, chat, watch, learn and ask questions.
June 10 * 12 – 2 pm, Makerspace
Walt Costilow Current member of Vestavia’s Art Council and President of the Watercolor Society of Alabama, this nationally recognized artist has exhibited his aviation art at local, regional, and national venues. He completed numerous aviation works while flying in the Air Force and has studied with international artists.
June 24 * 12 – 2 pm, Makerspace
Suzanne Accetta This theatrical set designer, lecturer, juror, and teacher is an internationally renowned artist who has been painting for over fifty years. Her work has been exhibited in public, private and corporate collections as well as juried exhibitions, and she has been featured in print and online publications.
July 8 * 12 – 2 pm, Makerspace
Artist Nancy Paden This award-winning watercolor and acrylic artist is known for her realistic style depicting people, nature, and wildlife. Inspired by the natural beauty of her family farm in Alabama, her artistic journey includes a rich career in design, teaching, and creating murals alongside her fine art.
July 18 * 12 – 2 pm, Makerspace
Artist Ron Lewis A member of Who’s Who in American art, our last artist of the Summer Artists Series paints in watercolor, acrylic, and oil, and is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society as well as the Alabama Watercolor Society. His paintings are in the permanent collection of the Birmingham Museum of Art, and his work has been published in national and international publications.
