Teen Art Market

Teen Art MarketThe spring Teen Art Market at the Vestavia Library in the Forest is an event for artists aged 11-18 to have an opportunity to get experience showing and selling their art, no matter what medium it may be. Teens are encouraged to register for the artist market and set up a table where the community can come purchase handmade art by up-and-coming young artists.

Registration is free, and workshops will be held in the months leading up to the market to help teens prepare, with mentorship by other artists in the community.

FAQs

What types of items can Teen Market vendors sell?

You may sell hand-made items made by you alone. Having various product items, styles, colors, and price range helps increase sales. In addition, our community mentors will give feedback and help guide you toward success!

What kind of help does the Teen Art Market provide?

The Vestavia Library Teen Department will host three “Get Ready” workshops that will be held after-school. Community mentors will help you learn how to launch your business, explore product offerings, envision your booth design, and determine pricing structure.

Do I need to pay for my spot at Teen Market?

No. The library donates the space to teen vendor participants, so there is no registration fee. In addition, tables, tablecloths, chairs, and refreshments for vendors are provided.

Can I partner with someone else?

Yes, you can partner with other teens, and you’re welcome to bring an adult to help the day of the event. For example, they can help you prepare, set up, and run your table during the event, but you cannot sell your parent/guardian’s art at your booth.

What are the time commitment requirements?

Vendors are strongly encouraged to attend at least one after-school workshop to prepare for the market (February 26th, March 1st, and March 11th). If you cannot make any of the dates, please reach out to the Teen Department, and we will help you set up a personal meeting. Additionally, you’ll need to allocate time to create and build inventory to have items to sell. We will help you figure out how to set your prices based on how long it takes to make an item.

Can I use Teen Market for Work-Based Learning, ELO or Senior Project? Can I put it on my resume?

Yes! The Teen Market program is a terrific way to get a jump on your senior year, and business entrepreneurship looks great on resumes!
