Join us for our Friends' Mutual Appreciation Luncheon and Installation of Officers. The Friends of the Vestavia Hills Library is a non-profit group of citizens who work together to assist the Board of Trustees and the Library Director; to promote increased knowledge of the functions, resources, services and needs of the Library; to stimulate volunteer service; to encourage gifts and memorials for the Library; to help the Library procure funds for items that are not included in the regular budge
We are the next stop on the traveling Dinosaur Egg display! Come have your picture taken with the egg and enter the zoo's contest! On display downstairs during regular library hours.

Be the first to Dig In! at the library and sign up for Summer Reading! Bags with special coupons from area merchants will be available for the first 500 who sign up, plus we will have a library full of activities! Sunday, June 2nd from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm.

June 6th, 11a– Puppeteer David Stevens brings “The New Adventures of Brer Rabbit”. David makes his own puppets and has worked with Jim Henson and Sesame Street! He uses traditional hand puppets and always puts on a great show. As part of our community outreach, this show will also be at Liberty Park Elementary for a 3:00 pm show.

One would never dream that a story set during the WW II Siege of Leningrad could be as engaging and darkly humorous as this book, but Benioff brings a diverse set of characters to life - two of whom have been given an impossible mission (find a dozen eggs!) in an unbearable situation.
June 20th, 11a– Lew-E’s Educational Circus has lots of the lights, sounds and visuals of a circus, but in a more compact, community room format! He juggles, does some magic, makes balloon animals and entertains non-stop.

June 27th, 11am - Red String Shadow Puppets brings the rare and enthralling art of shadow puppetry to everyone. They will be performing two stories and children of all ages will be enchanted by something they rarely have the opportunity to see. July 3rd, 10:30am – Hampstead Stage Co. will bring “The Secret Garden” to our outdoor amphitheater. Come enjoy this classic family favorite with our beautiful forest as a backdrop. (This program will replace the weekly “I’m Diggin’ It” storytime on this date. Program will be held in the Community Room if weather is disagreeable.)

July 25th, 11am - Stevens Marionette Puppets is the oldest puppet touring company in the US. They will be performing “Rumplestiltskin” with their beautiful, hand-made wooden marionettes. This type of puppetry is always exciting, as few get to see a live performance. As part of our community outreach, this show will also be at Liberty Park Elementary for a 3:00 pm show.

The League has performed with the likes of The Temptations, O’jays, Allman Brothers, Greg Allman, Aretha Franklin, Four Tops, Muscle Shoals Horns, Alabama Music Hall Of Fame Band, Jeff Carlisi, Jimmy Hall, Bob Dylan, John Fogarty, Willie Nelson, Little River Band, Marshall Tucker Band, and Ziggy and The Wailers.
