Jan. 7, 11:30-1:00pm, Jan. 8, 10:30-12:30pm, Alzheimer’s
Awareness Month Film = Please join us for Away
From Her, a film of great courage, humor, defiance, and grace depicting
the slow descent of a woman with Alzheimer's. Married for almost 50 years,
neither Grant (Gordon Pinsent) nor Fiona's (Julie
Christie) can deny any longer that she is being consumed by Alzheimer's
disease. The couple is forced to redefine the limits of their love and
loyalty - and face the complex, inevitable transition from lovers to
strangers. Jan. 14, Jan. 15, Alzheimer's disease affects approximately 5
million people in the U.S. Over time, Alzheimer's disease gradually destroys
a person's memory and ability to learn and carry out basic daily activities
such as talking or eating. Please join us as author Ellen Marie Edmonds
discusses her book “Embracing Dementia” and her personal experiences as she
lived through the descent of her beloved husband into Alzheimer's. This
program is for anyone dealing with this terrible disease. Jan. 20, Jan. 29, 11-12:00pm, Options for
Seniors and Their Caregivers = Please join us as we welcome Brent Watson
of Comfort Keepers and Donna Montgomery of Mobility Central as they discuss
options for Seniors and their caregivers, as well as persons with disabilities.
Both of these organizations are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life
and providing ideas and opportunities for everyone struggling with these
issues. |
